17. Technical Information and Licence Details |
Technical InformationEyeWrite has been tested on Windows, RM CC3 and Viglen Classlink networks and installs easily without the need of special ‘packages’. The CD is approximately 700MB. It will work in conjunction with digital projectors or any interactive whiteboard, but can also be used on stand-alone or networked PCs. Unfortunately it will not run on an Apple Mac System. The EyeWrite software contains sets of key words in topic sets, a clipart library, a photograph library, a dictionary and approximately 50 Flash files. It also has video tutorials that make use of Windows Media or Real Player. Installation locationThe CD can be used by all staff and students and needs to be installed in a location that provides access to all users. Network managers might like to note that users can import key words already installed on the CD to use in their mapping exercises. Once imported these word lists can be amended and then saved to personal, authorised folders. It is advisable, however, to locate the text files on the network in such a way that they cannot be amended or corrupted at source. Licence DetailsThe Network Licence permits the purchasing institution to install the software across its entire network, including laptops belonging to staff. It does not permit the installation of the software on home computers. The single user licence allows the software to be installed on a single computer. Once the authorisation code has been used during the installation it cannot be reused. 21-day free trialThe clip-art library, key word sets, Flash files and photographs are licensed to be used in conjunction with EyeWrite. In the event of the Institution returning the software and licence as unwanted after its 21-day free trial, all of the software and the additional resources must be uninstalled from all computers in the institution. If institutions make use of the 21-day free trial offer and decide not to keep it, the software and licence must be returned with the invoice by recorded delivery. |
