The purpose of the Concept Map
EyeWrite is designed to help learners to create a visual plan of a project, essay, report, presentation, investigation, evaluation or lesson. The plan provides the structure for the final product with the initial main branches representing the key chapters or sections, the next set of branches representing the subsections, and the twigs representing the minor, supporting points. The Map does not, however, provide users with a final, coherent piece of writing or script for a talk or presentation. It needs to be improved and the Export to Text function allows this to happen.
The structure of the exported text
Users will see that once the Map is exported to text, it has the key words from the Map with the major headings on the left, some with notes attached, and other words in bold to act as reminders or memos for inclusion in the text.
Improving the writing
The exported ‘map’ now needs to be edited. A few minutes of editing begins to turn it into a coherent piece of writing. This process is shown in Tutorial 13.
